The Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce, represented by executive board members Joe Draganjac and Ivan Grbešić and its manager, Wanita Plastich Kelava, welcomed the opportunity to meet with Robert Blaić, CEO of the Croatian Mint, in Toronto.
In June 2024, the Croatian Mint was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records for minting the world’s smallest coin, a record previously held by Switzerland. This symbolic coin celebrates the Istrian town of Hum, known as the smallest town in the world. It’s also historically significant as the last coin issued with a Croatian kuna face value (1 kuna). Minted by the Croatian National Bank in December 2022, this miniature marvel has a diameter of just 1.99 millimeters and weighs only 0.05 grams, and is so small it was sold with a magnifying glass,
Pictured here is an edition of another unique piece – the Contour Tie – featuring two coins of different shapes, crafted from gold and silver. This exquisite piece pays homage to this timeless fashion accessory and its roots, whose elegant design has become a recognized symbol worldwide,
The Chamber looks forward to explore opportunities of collaborating with the Croatian Mint.
