On Saturday, February 2, 2013, Nikola (Nikica) Vrdoljak, a dear friend and leader in our Croatian-Canadian community and a legendary folk dance instructor, passed away. This man, who was the co-founder and former President of the Canadian Croatian Folklore Federation and longtime instructor of the Zrinski-Frankopan Folklore Ensemble of Toronto, left an indelible mark on the development of Croatian folkore in Canada. He left his homeland, never forgetting where he came from and always working tirelessly and giving generously to preserve the Croatian culture and to enrich and influence the youth of our community to ensure that they and future generations never forget their heritage.
Nikola’s numerous contributions to the Croatian-Canadian community were recognized by the Chamber in 2006 when he was awarded the Distinguished Community Service Award at the 4th Annual Business Excellence Awards Evening.
All former members of the Zrinski-Frankopan Folklore Ensemble as well as members of other Croatian folklore groups are encouraged to attend the funeral service in their “nošnje” (Croatian folklore costumes), the details of which are set out below:

Visitations will take place at Marshall Funeral Home (10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario) on Thursday, February 7, 2013 (7:00 – 9:00 p.m.) and Friday, February 8, 2013 (7:00 – 9:00 p.m.)
Funeral Information:
The funeral service is will be held at Our Lady Queen of Croatia Church (7 Croatia Street, Toronto, Ontario) on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
