Hrvatski Bozic 2012 – An Evening of Sharing; The Chamber Donates $5000 To The Croatian Sports & Community Centre of Hamilton, Inc.

Our Lady Queen of Croatia Roman Catholic Church (December 6, 2012) – The Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia and Our Lady Queen of Croatia Roman Catholic Church were honoured to host Hrvatski Bozic 2012. Surrounded by friends, family and members of the Croatian community it was a true pride to experience the Croatian children and youth of the future perform recitals, sing Christmas carols and dance traditional Croatian folklore while accompanied by Tambura.

Rev. Mladen Horvat, opened the festivities with a warm greeting from his parish, Our Lady Queen of Croatia Roman Catholic Church, followed by Ivan Grbesic from the Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce.

It was with great pleasure the Chamber presented a $5000 donation to Mark Vuksan and Mijo Rados, representatives of the Croatian Sports & Community Centre of Hamilton, Inc. The community centre is intended to serve Croatians throughout Ontario and be a driving force in keeping Croatians connected to their roots.

The evening continued with a sincere and warm-hearted address from the Consul General of the Republic of Croatia to Canada in Mississauga, Mr. Ljubinko Matesic, who thanked all sponsors, participants and attendees who contributed to the evening’s success.

Following impressive performances by Croatian School (Toronto) students and Jadran Toronto, all the guests joined together to sing Christmas carols in hopes of enticing St. Nicholas to join the children. They were not disappointed; St. Nicholas emerged to the singing of “Zvoncici” and treated the children to an array of Croatian sweets generously donated by Eurotrade Import Export Inc.

Hrvatski Bozic 2012 concluded with all the guests and participants enjoying Croatian delicacies, wine and conversation, all in the company of good friends.
