April 17, 2015 – The Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce hosted over 600 members and friends of the Croatian-Canadian community, including dignitaries from Canadian federal, provincial, and municipal levels of government as well as Croatian government officials at the Burlington Convention Centre in Burlington, Ontario.
The awards evening is designed to formally recognize leadership, innovation and excellence within the Croatian-Canadian community and significant contributions by Croatian-Canadians to Canadian society as a whole.
The evening commenced with the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, delivering a keynote speech which shared her views on a better and prosperous Ontario.
Following the keynote speech, Victor Dodig, President and CEO of CIBC, was presented with a special Recognition of Excellence Award. The Award, a painting by Marija Barac Jandric, entitled “Staying”, belongs to a body of work known as Domovina/Homeland.
The Chamber was honoured to present two scholarship and two bursary awards to four outstanding students: Julijana Hajdinjak, Maja Petrović, Nina Omerović and Stefanie Petrina, who graciously accepted the awards from Premier Wynne, Victor Dodig and Robert Hudaj.
As the recipients of the 13th Annual Business Excellence Awards were announced, they were awarded with an original, signed and numbered print, created by the featured artist Marija Barac Jandric, for this special event. Entitled, Meadow (Zelina near Zagreb).
