Katharine Anderson Groethe will share the unique story of “Korta Katarina” Winery

From Humanitarian Aid Mission to Developing One of Southern Croatia’s Top Wineries – The Story of “Korta Katarina” Winery.

The most reliable ambassadors of Croatia and the beauty of its Adriatic shores are foreign visitors. While most spread stories of their experiences, others recognize and participate in Croatia’s potential and opportunities. One such example is the Anderson family from the U.S., owners of the multi-billion dollar APi Group based in the Twin Cities.

Lee and Penny Anderson, both American, traveled to post-war Croatia in 2001 with the non-profit organization St. David’s Relief Foundation in an effort to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Andersons assisted in the reconstruction of schools and infrastructure for the thousands of people who remained displaced by the devastating war in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. While in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Andersons traveled to neighboring Croatia and fell in love with the scenic and architectural beauty of Southern Croatia, its strong cultural heritage, fine cuisine, and – a surprising find – the wine!

The Andersons’ passion for wine (they are Original Trustees of the Naples Winter Wine Festival in Naples, Florida) and their newfound passion for Croatia inspired them to establish KORTA KATARINA. Over the past 10 years the Andersons and KORTA KATARINA have completed construction on the new state of the art KK winery, tasting room and wine bar and the new boutique hotel “VILLA KATARINA”, located in the small coastal town of Orebić (Pelješac Peninsula).

A presentation of three (3) $2,000 scholarship and four (4) $1,500 bursaries awarded to students enrolled in a full-time post-secondary university or college in Canada.

A silent and live auction and raffle, proceeds of which will be used to benefit the Croatian-Canadian Scholarship Fund.

Dinner and open bar.

Please join us for an evening of outstanding recognition, fine food, and entertainment!
