Croatian artists paint Outside the Box for the City of Toronto along the PAN AM Torch Relay Route.
Outside the box
The City of Toronto invited local artists to submit proposals to create art on City traffic signal boxes at various locations throughout Toronto. The goal of this project is to provide opportunities for artists to create works of art that contribute to the vitality and attractiveness of the streetscape. This project is being implemented by StreetARToronto (StART), part of the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services Division.
Martina Vrbanic and Tatjana Hutinec are selected to paint Traffic Control Cabinets at:
Harbour Street and Bay, Yonge and Renforth and Rathburn
One of Tatjana’s proposed artworks is chosen for the traffic control box at Yonge and Chatsworth – which is on the PAN AM TORCH RELAY ROUTE on July 8 BETWEEN 16:30-17:30.
Martina Vrbanic is visual artist: painter, printmaker, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb. The painting “Sailboats”, showcases the colorful and vibrant landscape of the waterfront, where paper boats symbolize harmony, discovery and rebirth.
Tatjana Hutinec, visual artist : painter, sculptor is also one of the city’s leading costume and set specialist in the film and theatre industries. The images in the Expressions from the Tidal Pool 1 and 2, burst with colours. Resembling inkblots – they can be interpreted differently each time one looks at them.
Everyone is welcome to come by, meet the artists and watch the work in progress in their unique “open studios”, greet the PANAM torch and of course take pictures !!!!
