As the excitement has settled, our wounds still healing and our red-and-white checkers are being carefully folded away, our hearts are filled with nothing but gratitude.
What an unforgettable journey it has been.
From the moment we kicked off Croatia House with our Kick-Off Bash and Opening Night, the energy was electric. It was the perfect way to welcome Croatian supporters from across Canada and around the world as we prepared for an extraordinary week in Toronto.
Then came June 23 – Croatia’s first game day in Toronto against Panama.
The pre-game atmosphere was unlike anything we have ever experienced. Filled with music, dancing, laughter, and an overwhelming sense of Croatian pride. Ten thousand supporters proudly marched together with the iconic 100M Croatian flag before witnessing Croatia’s inspiring victory over Panama. The celebrations that followed back at Croatia House carried long into the evening with memories that will stay with us forever.
On July 2, Croatia House once again became home for our global Croatian family as we gathered before the Croatia vs. Portugal match and once again proudly marched in the thousands with the 100M Croatian flag. While the result on the pitch was heartbreaking, it did nothing to diminish the passion, unity, and unwavering support shown by our global community. Through every triumph and every disappointment, Croatian supporters stand together – and that spirit was on full display throughout the tournament.
It has been an incredible honour and privilege to host Croatia House as the Official Gathering Place for Croatians Abroad for the 2026 FIFA World Cupᵀᴹ celebrations in Toronto.
It is was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: to welcome our Croatian National Team to Toronto, to celebrate our heritage on the world stage, and to create a place where generations of Croatians could come together to share their love of our homeland.
Perhaps the most remarkable part of this experience was witnessing Croatians from every corner of the world reunite as one family. Different countries, different languages, different journeys – but one identity and one heartbeat.
We celebrated together. We sang together. We cried together. We stood together.
That is the strength of Croatia and the spirit of our people.
To the Toronto Event Centre, our volunteers, sponsors, DJ’s, performers, vendors, security personnel and media partners led by Ante and Branimir Kvartuc of CroatianSports.com, Croatians Online and Matthew McGrath – thank you. A special thank you to Ante Zorić for bringing the Croatian Diaspora Jersey Collection all the way from California for display. Special thanks as well to our co-organizers of the marches and for bringing the flag all the way to Toronto (twice!) CFE – Mi Hrvati (led by Željko Bulić) and Dado Čor and his team from Crikvenica. Your commitment, professionalism, and passion made Croatia House and the flag marches an unforgettable experience.
To every fan who travelled near or far, wore the Croatian colours with pride, marched through the streets of Toronto, filled our venue and created memories that will last forever – thank you!
You reminded the world that Croatia is much more than a nation of almost four million people. It is a global family connected by heritage, resilience, and an unbreakable love for our homeland.
Although Croatia’s World Cup journey has come to an end, the friendships, memories, and pride we shared will remain with us forever.
Together, we demonstrated our spirit. Together, we demonstrated our strength.
