FOR THOSE WHO ARE FAR AWAY IN BODY BUT CLOSE IN HEART AND SOUL, FOR THOSE WHO KNOW THERE IS ONLY “ONE HOMELAND”
Zaprešić Boys new single “One Homeland” is a song dedicated to the Croatian diaspora, and also a reminder to all Croats, in these difficult times, how Croatia was created. To remember, to not forget and to appreciate the sacrifice of those who fought for this beautiful country we have today, because there is only one homeland. About the song itself, and where the idea to write a song dedicated to those who are far away in body but very close in heart and soul to their homeland and the homeland their ancestors came from. In the years before the pandemic, the boys traveled “half the world”, and during their performances they met and socialized with Croatian communities around the globe. These tours created a wonderful life experience and resulted in numerous lifelong friendships. That is exactly what motivated Zaprešić Boys to dedicate one of their songs to the diaposra, people with big hearts, and so the new single “One Homeland” was “born”. A song about the last moments of a man who lived in a foreign country and whose last, great, desire is to see his homeland once again and metaphorically wants to portray that the “black cloud” (as a symbol of the last moments in life) leads to her.
The video for the song “One Homeland” has a special story and gives extra weight to the whole project. Namely, the boys from the band joined forces with members of the Meeting G2 Association, which is located in Zagreb and has been connecting the homeland and expatriate Croatia for 7 years. At the end of their virtual conference MG2.7 in November 2021, the new Zaprešić Boys song dedicated to the diaspora premiered. After the catastrophic earthquakes, numerous Croatian associations around the world, including Meeting G2, gathered in a global initiative called One Croatia. Members of the Initiative decided to help the band and they selflessly raised funds to enable a better quality production of the video. Croats from all over the world actively participated in the video itself. They sent video greetings from their home country to “Jedna Domovina” (“One Homeland”) and the greetings were included in the video. In addition to many others, greetings from Croats in Windsor, New York, La Plate, Asuncion, Sydney, Perth, and Vienna were received.
The video for the song “One Homeland” was made by Nevio Smajić and Mario Borščak. The song itself was written by Ante Pecotić as the author of the music, Bojan Šalamon-Shalla created the production and arrangement and the lyrics are by Marko Novosel.
