There will also be live musical performances from prominent Croatian artists and an opportunity for attendees to mingle. \nThe global Croatian community organized a unified effort to raise funds to help those in need after an earthquake and its aftershocks have brought loss of life and devastation to the historic towns of Petrinja and Sisak in the Banovina region of Croatia. \nThe widespread damage to homes\, hospitals\, kindergartens\, churches and other buildings has left many families without water\, heat\, electricity and shelter.  Many of these same families\, in the Banovina region\, also suffered greatly during the Homeland War. \nMuch like in any times of distress\, Croatians unified in a common goal of helping those most affected. DESCRIPTION:This year’s European Union Film Festival will be virtual! \nThe Cinematheque\, in partnership with festival presenters in Ottawa and Toronto\, has moved the 2020 edition of the EUFF online! \nFrom November 13 to 29\, join in (virtually) for the first-ever Canada-wide European Union Film Festival\, featuring 27 recent films from 27 EU member states. Each film will be “live” online for a 48-hour period; some will be supplemented with exclusive filmmaker interviews and introductions. All films will be presented in their original languages\, with English (and\, in some cases\, French) subtitles available. \nCroatia’s EUFF entry\, Comic Sans\, will be available to stream Nov 29–30. By turns comic and poignant\, Comic Sans is an insightful\, decidedly offbeat dramedy about one man’s slow recognition of his life’s problems\, his own flawed character\, and his possible paths to a new beginning.
