They both also star in the film as mother and daughter\, along with Croatian actor Goran Grgic. \nThe story revolves around Croatian-born Marina who is forced to expose a secretive love affair with her Australian boyfriend\, as escalating political violence spills into her childhood home with devastating consequences. The short film had a world preview at FLICKERFEST this year in Sydney. \nCroatian Six Background \nThe 1970s were a volatile time for Croatian immigrants to Australia as protests for independence from former Yugoslavia raged across the nation. \nOn February 8\, 1979\, six Croatian-Australians – who became known as the “Croatian Six” – were arrested in raids in Sydney. This followed a tip-off from a man claiming to be involved in a shared plot to bomb a string of targets across the city. In 1981\, following a marathon criminal trial\, the men were sentenced to 15 years behind bars but for many years there have been fears they were framed. She holds a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering and has been a military helicopter pilot since 2008 subsequently becoming a flight instructor and test pilot. Born on August 15\, 1984 in Nova Gradiška\, Antonija completed her studies in aeronautics at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in 2008. She became a military helicopter pilot and\, immediately following graduation\, was employed with the 393rd helicopter squadron in Zadar. In 2010\, she became a flight instructor\, and in 2015\, a test pilot on Bell 206B light helicopters. In 2022\, Antonija was promoted to the rank of air force Major. She is one of only eight female military pilots in Croatia. In her free time\, she is professionally and intensively engaged in fitness\, where she helps other women to maintain their health through exercise and proper nutrition\, and to build self-confidence by taking care of their bodies. DESCRIPTION:Premiering Outside of Croatia in Toronto and Vancouver\nMonday\, November 21\, 2022 (7:00 PM) \nThis year\, to commemorate the anniversary of November 18 – Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Vukovar (1991-2022)\, we invite you to join us for a screening of “Šesti Autobus” (Sixth Bus) to let the people of Vukovar know that they have not been forgotten. \nThis new film\, directed by Eduard Galić\, is a film about a young American trying to find a man from her past never to be found\, during the biggest conflict on European soil since World War II – the battle of Vukovar. It is about a search for identity; simmering beneath this need is a quest for faith\, connection and redemption. \nThe “Sixth Bus” is a search for truth in a place where truth is selective\, elusive and even feared. DESCRIPTION:The Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce will host the 18th Annual Business Excellence Awards Gala on Friday\, May 13\, 2022 at the Burlington Convention Centre\, 1120 Burloak Drive\, Burlington\, Ontario\, opening with cocktails at 6:00 p.m. \nThe awards evening is designed to formally recognize leadership\, innovation and excellence within the Croatian-Canadian community and significant contributions by Croatian-Canadians to Canadian society as a whole. \nThis exceptional evening will include a keynote address by special guest AJ Piplica\, Founder\, CEO\, Hermeus Corporation. \nHermeus\, an Atlanta-based startup is developing hypersonic aircraft and is testing a new type of engine which will eventually be capable of reaching Mach 5 speeds (over 3\,000 mph). They are charting a future for hypersonic transport\, which if successful will revolutionize commercial transatlantic flights. \nHypersonic travel happens at speeds of Mach 5 — five times the speed of sound. That would get an aircraft from New York to London in just 90 minutes! \nThe Hermeus founders include former employees from SpaceX\, Elon Musk’s rocket start-up\, and Blue Origin\, Jeff Bezos’ secretive space venture.
