“A LIFE FULL OF MIRACLES”:
AN EVENING WITH VIOLET GRGICH

Grgich Hills Estate is a renowned winery located in the heart of Napa Valley, California. It was founded in 1977 by winemaker Miljenko Grgich and his business partner, Austin Hills. On April 1, 2023 Miljenko Grgich celebrated his 100th birthday, marking a remarkable journey in winemaking that has spanned over several decades.  He is particularly known for his role in producing the winning Chardonnay at the famous “Judgment of Paris” wine competition in 1976, which put California wines on the map.

In 1996, Miljenko Grgich and his daughter, Violet Grgich established Grgić Vina. Miljenko started the winery to produce the finest wines from native Dalmatian grapes and concentrates on crafting Croatia’s very best varietals: Plavac Mali and Pošip. The winery is perched overlooking the Adriatic Sea just north of the historic walled city, Dubrovnik, in the southern Dalmatia wine region of Croatia.

Today, Violet Grgich serves as President of Grgich Hill Estate. Together, Miljenko and Violet are known for their commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices, as well as their dedication to producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyard sites. Their close relationship and shared passion for winemaking has helped to create a legacy of excellence that has earned them both widespread respect and admiration in the wine world.
