BUSINESS SUCCESSION PLANNING SEMINAR SERIES BEGINS

Have you been wondering what will happen to your business when you decide to retire? if you pass it along to the next generation, how do you choose a successor? If you sell, how do you ensure that you get good value for all that you've put in?

These were some of the questions answered at the first of a series of seminars dealing with Business Succession Planning and hosted by the Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Admiral Inn Mississauga. Topics of discussion included:

  • Business transition in the context of the broad estate plan
  • Tax considerations and strategies to save tax
  • Strategies to maximize value of the business
  • Special considerations on death or incapacity of a business owner

Presenters included Chamber member Michael J. Prsa, William G. Sirdevan, and Michael J. Luchenski of Lawrence Lawrence Stevenson LLP in Brampton. Over thirty people braved the extremely foggy weather to attend this seminar on an important yet seldom addressed topic.

The Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce will host Part II of the series on Thursday, November 22 from 7:45 - 10:15 am. Once again, our hosts will be the Admiral Inn Mississauga. TO DOWNLOAD OR PRINT THE PDF FOR THE SECOND SESSION, CLICK HERE.
